About Groci

Groci compares grocery prices across Finnish retail chains. One product, every chain we have a price from, side by side.

Which chains we compare

Prisma, K-CityMarket, K-Market, K-SuperMarket, S-Market, Alepa, Lidl and Tokmanni.

How often prices are updated

Prices are not refreshed on a fixed schedule, so two prices on the same page can be weeks apart. That is why each price carries the date it was last seen, right next to the price itself — never a single page-level date standing in for all of them.

How per-unit prices are calculated

We do not calculate them. Where a chain publishes a comparison price — per kilo, per litre, per piece — we show that number as the chain states it. Where a chain publishes none, we show none rather than divide the shelf price ourselves: a pack weight printed on the label is not always the weight the price refers to, and a number we invented would look exactly like a number the shop stands behind.

We do run that division, but only as a check: our own figure is compared against the chain's, and a disagreement beyond a rounding tolerance is flagged for review rather than published.

Who publishes this

Groci. Articles are published by Groci as an organisation; where an article reports someone else's ranking or laboratory test, the source is named and linked in the article itself.
